Matt graduated from Upper St Clair High School in 2011 where he was a four year varsity starter.  He received a Division 1 scholarship to play at Gardner-Webb University in the Big South Conference.  At Gardner Webb Matt was a 4 year starting pitcher and 2 time All Big South Conference Selection.  Matt graduated from Gardner-Webb University in 2015 with a degree in business administration.  At Gardner Webb Matt ranks first all time in career innings pitched (373), games started (55),  strikeouts (360), as well as top 5 all time in career wins, ERA, and batting average against.   After college Matt played 2 season with the Washington Wildthings as a starting pitcher.  In Matts final season with the Wild Things (2016) he threw 113 innings, with 94 strikeouts, and an ERA of 3.17.
